Product Overview

The single-column vertical lathe is a CNC turning machine with a vertically oriented rotary worktable and a single upright support for the cutting head. It is used to face, bore and turn brake drums, flywheels, circular castings and medium-to-large flanges in foundries, brake-component plants and general engineering workshops.

Key Features

Four Workpiece Size Classes

The SVT series covers maximum turning diameters from 600 to 1,600 mm and turning heights from 200 to 1,000 mm, depending on the selected model. When a cast brake drum has a deep recess behind its face, the vertical cutting envelope provides access to both its outer diameter and inner bore without changing machine type.

Low-Speed Cutting Drive

Worktable speed spans 2–300 rpm, with 15, 22 and 30 kW main-motor configurations across the series. During roughing of cast-iron flywheels with interrupted outer skins, the low-speed end of the drive range keeps the cut controlled as the tool crosses hard spots and gaps.

Cast Structure with Box-way Support

The single-column box-way arrangement and integral cast spindle head support the tool against radial cutting forces. Worktable capacities range from 1,000 kg on the SVT600 to 6,000 kg on the SVT1600. Heavy circular blanks sit on the table instead of hanging from a horizontal chuck, simplifying support during face turning.

Custom Single-column Vertical Lathe

We configure the SVT layout from the workpiece drawing, casting weight, required cutting diameter and turning sequence. The engineering team adjusts the worktable, tooling arrangement and drive package to the approved specification, then builds and checks the assembled machine against the agreed turning operations.

Quality Control

Cast structural components are allowed to stabilize before machining; guideway surfaces are hardened and ground. During assembly, the spindle axis, worktable face and ram movement are checked as a connected turning geometry rather than as isolated components.

Pre-shipment acceptance includes spindle runout verification, a 24-hour heavy-load running test and a cut on a representative circular workpiece. Self-inspection and cross-inspection records accompany the final check, and every completed machine is examined before packing.
