Daily Pre-shift Maintenance (5–10 minutes before startup)
Clear metal chips and debris from the surrounding aisles, worktable, spindle, and tool post surfaces; check protective covers and safety doors for damage or looseness.
Check the lubrication oil reservoir level; top up with the same grade of slideway oil if the level is below the mark, and inspect oil nozzles and lines for blockages or leaks.
Manually operate the oil pump to deliver lubricant to all moving parts, including the spindle, tool post, cams, and bar-feeding mechanism.
Verify that the collet opens and closes smoothly without sticking, tools are securely clamped with no edge chipping, and drive belts/chains have proper tension and no cracks.
Confirm power and control cables are undamaged; for pneumatic models, adjust air pressure to 0.4–0.6 MPa and check air lines for leaks.
Start the machine and run it at low speed without a load for 3–5 minutes; listen for abnormal noises from the spindle, cams, or feeding mechanism before commencing actual machining.
Daily In-shift Inspections (Every 1–2 hours)
Monitor cutting fluid flow to ensure it is sufficient and correctly aimed; top up if levels are low, and flag fluid for replacement if deterioration, foaming, or foul odors are detected.
Watch for excessive spindle temperature rise, abnormal noise, or vibration; if machining dimensions drift or burrs increase, stop the machine immediately to inspect the tool and collet condition.
Promptly clear accumulated metal chips to prevent them from wrapping around the spindle, jamming the tool post, or clogging the chip discharge outlet.
Check the machine body, oil lines, and fittings for oil or water leaks; stop the machine immediately to address any leakage and prevent workshop environmental contamination.
