Classification by Core Control Method
Cam-type Automatic Lathe
Uses the profile shape of a cam to control the tool path and automatically executes machining cycles at a preset rhythm. It features a simple structure and stable operation, making it suitable for the mass production of identical small parts.
CNC Automatic Lathe
Uses microcomputer programming to control the entire machining process. It supports custom machining paths, enables high-precision machining of complex parts, and is ideal for flexible production scenarios involving a wide variety of parts in small batches.
Program-controlled Pneumatic Automatic Lathe
Uses a microcomputer program to control a pneumatic tool post. Pneumatic cylinders drive the switching between rapid approach, cutting feed, and rapid retraction. It is suitable for machining workpieces that come in various types and medium-to-large batches, and which require a certain level of precision.

 

Classification by Spindle and Tool Movement Configuration
Swiss-type (Sliding Headstock) Automatic Lathe
During machining, the material feeds forward with the spindle while the cutting tool remains stationary. This type is particularly well-suited for the precision machining of slender, shaft-like small parts.
Tool-moving (Fixed Headstock) Automatic Lathe
The workpiece is held by a chuck, and cutting is performed through the multi-directional movement of the turning tool. It can simultaneously execute multiple operations such as external turning, grooving, and tapping.
