The CNC system is the core component of a CNC machine tool; therefore, maintaining the machine tool primarily involves maintaining the CNC system. After prolonged use, the performance of electronic components degrades or they may even fail-a process that is often more pronounced in certain mechanical parts. To extend the lifespan of components, prolong the service life of parts subject to wear, and prevent various malfunctions-especially catastrophic failures-routine maintenance of the CNC system is essential. The maintenance methods for CNC machine tools primarily cover the following aspects:

1. Establish regulations for routine CNC system maintenance:

Define specific maintenance protocols based on the characteristics of different components. For instance, clearly stipulate which areas require daily cleaning (such as the CNC system's input/output units-specifically the photoelectric reader-and checks for proper lubrication of mechanical structures) and which components require periodic inspection or replacement (such as the monthly inspection of DC servo motor brushes and commutators).

2. Minimize the opening of CNC control cabinet and high-voltage cabinet doors:

The air in machining workshops typically contains oil mist, dust, and even metal particles. If these contaminants settle on the printed circuit boards or electrical components within the CNC system, they can reduce insulation resistance between components and potentially cause damage to the components and circuitry. Some users open the CNC cabinet doors in summer to dissipate heat while running the system under heavy loads for extended periods; this practice is highly inadvisable and will ultimately accelerate the system's deterioration. The correct approach is to lower the ambient temperature surrounding the CNC system. Therefore, strict regulations should be enforced: cabinet doors must not be opened casually-except for necessary adjustments or repairs-and must certainly never be left open while the machine is in operation.
