There is no single, fixed schedule for CNC machine tool maintenance; the plan must be tailored based on the equipment manual, operating environment, and runtime. Common maintenance intervals are categorized as follows:

 

Daily/Per Shift: Operators clean the exterior; check lubrication oil levels, coolant, and air pressure; and clear away metal chips.
Weekly: Maintenance personnel clean lubrication filters; check tool retention studs and the mechanical home position; and clean and lubricate guideways and ball screws.
Monthly: Electricians clean the electrical cabinet, verify guideway lubrication, and clean limit switches.
Quarterly: Engineers assess machine accuracy and leveling, and check the condition of the spindle system.
Semi-annually: Change hydraulic unit oil, test axis backlash, and perform a deep cleaning of the electrical cabinet.
Annually: Professional engineers perform comprehensive accuracy calibration, replace backup batteries and cutting fluid, and conduct full maintenance on servo motors.
Level II Maintenance: Performed after 500–1,000 hours of cumulative operation or every 1–2 years; intervals should be shortened for high-humidity or high-dust environments.
